The People of Summorum Pontificum at Saint Peter’s with Bishop Kozon and Cardinal Comastri
Rome 12 September 2018, the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary – On Friday 26 October 2018, a Mass of Thanksgiving for the 30 years of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP) will open the seventh international pilgrimage of Populus Summorum Pontificum. It will be celebrated at 6pm in the Church of Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini by Father Charles Ike, FSSP, ordained in 2017 in Nigeria.
On Saturday 27 October, the pilgrims will gather at 9.30am at the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Damaso for Eucharistic Adoration which will precede the solemn procession to the Basilica of Saint Peter where Bishop Czeslaw Kozon, Bishop of Copenhagen, will celebrate at 12 noon a Pontifical Mass during which Angelo Cardinal Comastri, Archpriest of the Vatican Basilica, will deliver the homily.
At 6pm the same day, Archbishop François Bacqué, Apostolic Nuncio, will chant first Vespers of Christ the King at the Church of Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini.
On Sunday 28 October, the Feast of Christ the King in the traditional calendar, two Masses will be offered for the pilgrims: one at 9.30am, celebrated by the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest in the Church of Gesù e Maria, for those faithful wishing to attend afterwards the pontifical Angelus in Saint Peter’s Square, and the other at 11am, celebrated by Bishop Kozon, at the Church of Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini.
Throughout these three days in Rome, the pilgrims will pray for the Church and the holiness of the priesthood.
